I was browsing EBay after looking at a link on this forum and found this. I have always loved the look of these older coupes. I must admit I know nothing about them really.

I just wanted opinions on it. It is quite near where I am. I am not seriously tempted as her indoors would kill me even for thinking. I went back to 2 cars the other day when her Clio went back after a 2 year lease. I got my E320 as a replacement for the Clio. :)

The car has scant details but I was wondering about the paint job. Is the split colour something original or been inflicted on it during it's lifetime? Are these cars beasts/money pits or is it really a future classic as billed?

I really enjoy the threads where everyone pitches in with their opinion. I would value those telling me to look away.

There were many options on colour/ detail / trim so looks like its original
and does look a nice car well worth making a bid on

Nice cars, future classic? yea, in 20 years time. worth buying as an investment? Nooooo... Worth buying because they are nice to own and cheap to run overall? Certainly...

How much should it go for?

I can't imagine it will go for the bid price, but what would be a decent price to get it for?

There were approx 135 of these 124 chassis vehicles at the meeting of the official Mercedes Benz Club back in the summer.

Most would say that they are a future classic, because you only have to look at the previous generation 4 seater merc coupes to see that genuine condition cars have rocketed in price.

That car was the most prestigeous coupe that money could buy at the time and mere mortals could only look in awe. (excluding rolls/bentley).

If was a genuine 4 seater car (most unusual for a coupe) and it had NIL weak points that the car testers at the time could fault it on.

If you are going to buy a modern classic, to keep for the long term, then you just cannot go wrong with that car (or similar version).

My later 1995 model was listed at £52,000 at the time !

Along with the fine Mercedes heritage and professional parts back up situation for olders cars, again you just cannot go wrong.

    Wife was less than impressed

Funny the first part of your post is exactly what my missus said. There were lots of other things said like "you cannot be serious" followed by "I forgot it's you we're talking about, of course you are serious". Was really not in the spirit of Christmas. :(

It's an early one. The clues are the grille and the bumpers.

Yes it looks very original---and is already a true collectors item !--get over the bridge and test drive it ---check its history and mileage-paperwork M.o.t. history any accident damage ect., --if it all checks out O.K. then it will be an exellant buy and should not lose value if looked after -they are quite awesom to drive and will cruise motorways in luxury with ease. ?

It went to £1300 at lunchtime today.

I was watching as I was considering it as a little project but it was a bit too much for my pocket and my health as Mrs Teabag came in to the room while I was in the process of bidding.
