When purchasing DOT4 brake fluid from the Merc parts counter, don't rely on the parts people to know how much is required.
Thats why I have 2 spare 1 litre bottles of brake fluid from the 3 that they sold me I thought it was a bit excessive at the time!
I think they must have supplied me enough for the entire system! It took less than a litre to pump through the lines.
Thankfully the old fluid was nice and clean so no leaky pistons I also changed the coolant, 3 litres of coolant is plenty. Dead simple to drain as well, no faffing around underneath the car. And the old coolant was spotless as well, good cars these aren't they At 180,000 miles I've never heard an engine so smooth (idling it to get the thermostat open).
