Interested in the purchase of a fleet of three G Wagens to be used as company cars for my property development business in an emerging market. Currently thinking of purchasing reasonable second hand (2004/2005) models but could do with some advice on which engine is the most reliable, easiest to service/maintain in a market where the MB dealership may not be the sharpest and offers the best performance? Any comments/advice is welcome, at present I have found www.mobile.de to be one of the best sites; anyone know any specialists who could package these units up for export or any general advice?

Hello

Great cars but only a hand full of the proper 'G' wagens ever sold here and don't think the UK even got the option of the G400 and maybe not even the G320.

Given the 320cdi engine is in the C, E, ML, and new GL my bet would be thats a good choice for performance, runing costs etc.

The G wagon is a heavy car but built like a brick the torque of the 320 cdi should be pleanty though.

Thanks for that, it would be the LHD versions that I would be buying as they are going to be used in Eastern Europe. The 320Cdi replaced the 400Cdi so I guess that says it all - I just wanted to know about the G400Cdi as the engine produces more HP, is a V8 and as they are older they are cheaper to buy.

Read on one of the websites (can't remember which) a guy who ran a G wagon for 650,000 miles on the original engine. I asked how long the auto box had lasted and he said sadly he had had to replace it at 500,000 miles. Just not a lucky guy I guess.:D
