We don't know for sure yet! However it will soon be getting some sticky tyres and then we can run it! We know that 50-120 is 5.5 seconds!!! 0-62 to come shortly!

It is possible to have enough power for our crowded UK roads though.

Nearly all the cars currently on the market have sufficient. I've just dropped from 366bhp to 265bhp but I can't say I am driving any slower than before. :)

true. im not saying it could be USED very often (thats where living in the sticks can be an advantage though) BUT (even though im old enough to know better now, or so im told) I LIKE to have as much power as i can afford under me!!!

Maybe im getting ready for my midlife crisis!

I've gone from 170bhp to 479bhp and the difference is very noticeable on the road. So much more effortless. Overtakes are instant and available where ever.

One can never have too many horses under the bonnet :D

To be honest my point to point journey times are probably the same now as when I owned an 84bhp Austin Maestro! :D

Driving ease and enjoyment are another thing though.

I think they have beefed up the transmission, though.

Yes, I think you're right. I wonder what they've actually done to beef it up? I.e. which components of the 7G+ box do they feel are "weak" relative to the others.

I note they've fitted the AMG Exhaust with quad pipes. How much of this is show, and how much is go though? I.e. is this a much less restrictive system?

Additionally, I'd expect EGR bypass as well as DPF and Cat removal for ultimate performance - the latter a common performance mod for other diesels, as well as many petrols, though on the latter can compromise emissions (MOT) unlike Diesel when properly mapped.

MB rates the 7g+ box at a max torque of 735Nm.

I know GAD regard this as conservative, but even the remap to 750Nm takes the torque beyond the 'official' rating.

So far as I know the DPF and EGR have not been touched, on this particular car.

The TIP's are AMG tips the rest is 3" pipework to increase flow but not noise. Also this reduces EGT's over stock therefore improving engine efficiency.
