Hi,

I have recently relocated to Guildford and I am wondering if anybody knows of any good and reasonably priced mercedes garages in the area?

A few "electronic" problems have very recently occured with my CLK 230 W208

1. The warning light for the lights is coming on (sometimes) although all of the lights are working fine.
2. The engine seems to be "get home mode" whenever I try to go over 4k revs, the engine struggles so I have to ease off.
3. The auto choke isn't as smooth as it used to be, when the engine is in idel at about 700 revs, the needle and engine twitchesm when it never used to.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Tony Purslow in Guildford are highly recommended. Take a look at www.tonypurslow.co.uk

Thanks for that, are they are mercedes dealer or specialist garage? Any idea of the hourly rate?

Just an amendment on above, the warning light comes on (if ever) after I press the brake light. (Once again, all lights are working)

If the light comes on after you press the brake, that means that a stop lamp bulb is faulty

They are a a main dealer. Labour rate depends on age of the car. Cars 4 years old get about 20% off, over six years and its more I think.

Thanks, i'll have a look at the stop lamps, maybe a dirty connector.

I want to stay away from a dealer for general repairs as I can't really afford the £100 + per hour labour.

Anybody got any ideas about the other problems?

Unless the MAF is on the way out for the engine faults. Un plug it and see how much of a change there is

Where's the MAF? Is that the air flow meter? What else could it be, if not that? It only started struggling (engine shake) at 4k, yesterday.

Does anybody know of a non-dealer mercedes garage in a 20 mile radius of Guildford?

Sorry for repeating myself, its just that with my minimal mercedes knowledge this could be quite a major issue.

Thanks

Steve

I do not think so, just the odd ones do it to try and stop people from going to indies

Tony Purslow do it to encourage customer loyalty. It makes life easier to keep the book stamped up with dealer stamps in it! Besides on my CLK I had a factory warranty for five years (6th year was an option but I sold the car)so it was worth going back to the dealer rather than an independant as the dealer fixed loads of stuff under warranty.

Thanks malcolm,

BlackC55, got to ask, what are your hourly rates?
Also do you offer a temp car, just wondering?
Also it would be a evening drop off and pick up (if possible) as I work 9-6 in Guildford.
