Thank you Tony, I have picked up on what you are saying but only marginally above my understanding. :)
At least all the lighting is all LED :)
When the extension to the next garage extension is finished it'll be on it's own consumer unit as this will also supply power to both outside sheds, also LED lighting. I have been given 5 6ft fluorescent lights with standard tubes which I thought I'd us in the extension. Not now, but can I get LED tubes that we fit into the old bases?
We have to get the power board back as we have noticed the Baker lite cover on the main power line into the meter is broken and it has exposed the blue and brown cable, I guess the Brickies mayhave damaged that when laying the block work  looks very dangerous. My electrician said he can't touch that.
My electrician phoned today to say he couldn't make it so rebooked for next week. Just some finishing off to do, oh and pay him o_O
You're welcome and yes you can get LED tubes that can be retrofitted into some standard fluorescent spines but you will need to provide details of the fitting and control gear to the wholesalers for them to provide a compatible LED replacement if available but your electrician should be able to do this for you. The District Network Operators can be very sensitive about anyone accessing their kit beyond their seals, which I suspect this is the case with your broken bakelite cover?

That's good news, I have plenty of old 6ft fluorescent lights and some not so old. I'll let my electrician look at these lights.
Contacted the power board and they have someone phoning us on the 10th May. So no great urgency then  I'll stand guard so no one touches the exposed main power feed
My son is dropping by tomorrow and I'll get him to measure up and make a new cover for the meter in the meantime. :)

Joy o joy, it never rains but pours, both the roofer and garage door people arrived at the same time yesterday to fit the roller doors and finish off the roof. Now the scaffolding can come down
Garage doors looking (tall) good and working well, roofer hasn't brought enough trim  and has gone on holiday to Cornwall....Lucky bugger, though not so lucky with the weather
My son will be here today soon and we will start to fit the backdoor and glass in the window frame. For tomorrow I plan on putting the first coat of grey floor paint down :D

I now feel like we are getting somewhere with my garage build. That's the window fitted and sealed and the back door fitted and sealed.
The first coat of floor paint was applied on Sunday afternoon and it will be ready for the second coat on Wednesday.

Nice job 00slk, lost track of the garage, for some reason I'm not getting alerts to new posts on it.

Had fun with water building the garage at the old house. thought the water supply to the house came straight up the driveway as the stopcock was in hte middle at the bottom of the driveway and the "in house" one was in the downstairs loo, so never expected to find the supply pipe well to the side where the digger was preparing for the wall foundations! Bit of a panic getting fittings to seal the "leak" after the digger bucket went straight through the pipe, but I put a T piece, riser and valve on and ended up with a water supply in the garage. Really handy, as that was the unmetered supply to the property, so I put a hose reel on it and used it for topping up and cleaning the swimming pool, instead of using the seperate metered supply close to the pool. Saved about £150 every spring when we emptied, cleaned and re-filled the pool!!

Bet you wouldn't be telling us this if you still lived at the old house ;)

Second coat of grey done
Brickie will be back in 4 weeks to start on the new garage's extension and then the drive way will be finished with new concrete :)
Hopefully the roofer will be back to finish off the roof next week, so glad the weather is going to be wet!

It is now the 25th and no sign or contact from the roofer, guess it pays not to fully pay them before completion

Slowly filling the garage up :)

I've now started to disassemble the kennel in readyness for the brickie.
