Mercedes GLC 250d 2017
Spoke to my local Mercedes dealer yesterday about upgrading to a new SD card with Three years live traffic. Turns out that the latest version of the maps on SD card must have a problem. Mercedes Benz gave recalled the 20/21 version and reverted back to the 2017/18 sd card. So in effect I can’t get live traffic until this issue is resolved. Try getting in touch in a couple of week and see if we have resolved the issue.

@Alfie might have a view if he sees this. To me it sounds like a typical ”I can’t be bothered so I’ll tell him a load of rubbish” response from a dealer staff member.

I got the 20/21SD card from Mercedes in Newcastle Upon Tyne through their Ebay page.
Saying that, the software changed in Aug 2017 and the two cards are not interchangeable.
The card for mine is for vehicles before Aug 2017 so it's possible the newer software cards are the issue.

Spoke with the salesman who I negotiated my deal with ( to be fair on his day off )
I reminded him that we had agreed he would update the maps before I took delivery of my car. He said they had updated the SD card before my car was delivered and said he was sure the live traffic subscription was through The Mercedes Me app. He would find out tomorrow when he goes to work and get back to me.
I’ve seen videos from a Mercedes guy in Southampton dealership saying you need to buy a new SD card from your dealership.
anyone had a similar issue.

Maps can be updated for 60 days after first installation of the sd card via the Mercedes download manager on a Windows computer. The live traffic requires a new sd card which costs around £99 and lasts for three years from first install.

My three years ran out December and I'm trying to get live traffic back. It appears their expert only works during the week. I can't find anything on the app, any ideas anyone?

Live traffic only works with the updated sd card with live traffic. Some of the cheaper cards only have map data.

^ What Mike said. You only get Live Traffic on an official Mercedes SD card so you need to buy a new one from your Dealer or someone like ComandOnline

Mine appears to be Tom Tom but back in the recesses of my mind I thought you could get a 3 year activation. Or is that just them putting one over on me.

Definitely need live traffic. I have unlimited data on my phone but I didn't buy a Merc to hang my phone on the dash.

For the Comand system, it is via Mercedes.me purchase. Mine (which is Comand) will be £119 for three years from October when the initial three years expires but that doesn’t include map updates which I have to pay the dealer for at annual services.

You have the Garmin system which is, I believe, powered by Tom Tom or certainly uses TT live traffic. It probably was three years from new but I don’t know how long it lasts if you buy a new SD card.

Bought a card from BBay for £99 has latest maps and 3 year subscription for live traffic. I also put safety camera poi’s on same sd card. Sorted

Any update on this at all please. I paid for one in December and I have flood warnings and a crash that never goes away. Live Traffic still works and I know to ignores these but it s annoying. Thanks.
