doing a head recon, and the part from MB has three different gaskets for the inlet manifold, all of which would physically fit. haynes manual is no help (even shows wrong diagram!!) ... so i'm wondering, which of the three do i use? they're all slightly different in construction, materials-wise - two are paper, and one is steel. do i use all three (paper - steel - paper)?? eek

sorted it. apparently the original gasket wasn't 'strong enough' (stealership speak) so they replaced that with a three-tier affair. ya live an learn eh.

Em, no,

odometer refers to car itself.
But for future possible sale, document exchange (receipts photos etc.).

whoops. better put it back to 191,000 then. although (while i've got the drill out) ... i wonder if it might be smarter to pull some kind of elaborate double-bluff: put the mileage on to, say, 791,000 - in the hope that a) the car would be worth more as a record breaker, or b) no potential purchaser would believe that it had reached that figure without renewal of all major components...

.... something to think about through these long steamy sleepless nights
