Hi All

I recently bought an E220 W212 2014. Occasionally the gear box seems to get stuck, it rev’s much higher and won’t go into manual mode. If I switch the car on and off it solves the problem. Initially this happened every couple of weeks, it is now happening every other time I drive the car.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Also there is a slight vibrating noise when accelerating. Tried my best to find it but no luck.

Thanks

Karlos

Welcome buddy , ideally you need to go to a decent MB Indy who has the Mercedes Star computer diagnostic equipment . Where do you live so someone can recommend one for you

Yes, your gearbox is in limp mode when it does that. It will stick in the last gear it was in and will not let you override it etc. Probably a failed speed sensor.

Had the same problem with my 7G gearbox. It started to not shift up and was almost like I had a clutch that was slipping. I went to the garage, they couldn't find a problem, so reset and did a software update, and that sorted it.
It then came back last month, but this time I was unable to get passed 3rd gear, and unable to rev passed 2.5k but this time, the engine management light came on. The problem this time was down to a exhaust pressure switch.
I've also had two wheel speed sensor failures. The result of this was, no ABS and cruise control.
