Gear box problem really ECU related?

Hi, nn my mind my E300 auto gearbox needs replacing (only get 1st and reverse and then nothing) but someone had just said it may be an ECU fault. Is this right? Thanks, Iain

Electrical faults on Mercedes can cause some strange results. I would say your fault is either ATF fluid too low, or more likely electroplate fault inside the gearbox.
Taking the car to an Mercedes indi for a Star test should reveal the fault codes and what is causing your problem.

This looks like the speed sensor plate gone down, about £325 all in I think
