Gear Stick

I have just got a new gear stick for my e320 coupe, how do i go about fitting it, do i need to strip out the centre console or is just an unscew of the old one and screw the new one in.

Hi Malcolm,
Its a 1995 "124 E320 coupe", 5 speed auto, i can see theres a thread on the end. Its the one with sportline badge on the grip end of the stick.
I hope i dont have to strip the centre console out.

Just looking at it. there is a lock nut on the end of the rod. the top cover will have to come off and you may just get to it to unlock the nut

A gearstick with a "Sportline" badge on the top? I have never seen one of those. Would look great in my estate though......

Many Thanks to you all for your help, last question, how does the top cover come out of the console, is it screwed in. i once took the console out of my 107 but cant remember how it came apart.
