Sometime back in February this year I posted on here regarding my auto box dieing (loud whining noise that corresponds with engine revs). Eventually I lost all drive to the wheels, RAC called etc etc. I solved the problem by changing the autobox oil and filter.

Out in the car today, said whine noise comes back. Exactly the same as before. No more than 50miles later (journeys were a necessity and I couldn't head home!), again the autobox failed and I lost drive to the wheels. Managed to limp home slowly this time (was about a mile from home when it died!).

FYI, I haven't done anymore than 8000 miles since the oil was changed! Does anyone have any ideas? I have checked the fluid level (yep I've got the right measuring tool!) and that appeared to be ok although it was hard to tell. The oil that was in definately appeared to be the right reddy colour. I also tried topping it up with 400ml of oil and again this hasn't helped.

Any ideas or help anyone???

Thanks in advance :)

Hi there, Just wondering if you managed to resolve your problem. I have a 320ce with 5 speed auto box that is whining when i put the power down, although it is not to bad at cruising. It changes gear ok and is still driving ok appart from the noise. What did you do with your car to sort out the problem. Cheers Mark.
