Gearbox/change issue?

Hi,

2000 W210 E320 CDI Estate 161k miles

Just got back from two weeks in south-west France. As we should probably expect, afaik no problems but I thought I'd run just one query past the knowledgeable forum readers ...

Steep uphill slow (less than 30mph, say) sharp bends, there would be an audible and palpable 'thump' - presumably as the 'box changed down for uphill acceleration out of the bend?

Is this normal or should I be worried?

Yes that can happen at odd times, when it gets caught out,,dont worry about it

If it thumps into gear more frequently, I would get the vacuum checked will not cost arm & leg for this service. Hope this helps
