We thought as this was a common gearbox problem Merc folks may be interested!
A friend was telling me last night that after the warning light had been on for a week or so on his C class it went into limp mode.
He took it into Gravesend Transmission Services North Kent. They did the water/glycol test and did a computer check - apparently it was a faulty electrical plate in the gearbox.
Anyway he was delighted that with the friendly service and that the job cost him just under £300.
The man to contact is Dave.
