gearbox help

can anyone help my c class tiptronic gearbox sometimes does not work and in automatic it slips out of gear or stays in second engine management light come on for short time then goes out recently it has not started then i leave it 5 mins then starts im told it could be fluid level how do i check gear box level and can i top it up

You need a short test, sounds like the y6 speed sensor in the box has failed!!

could this be serious can i check fluid first and how also cost worst case thanks in advance s-a-m

I did reply to your other post, you need a dipstick, or make your own, theres a thread on here how to make one!
