i have a honk from the gear box when accelerating slowly at low revs
ie when you slow down to 25-35 but the gear stays in 4th, and
then you apply slight throttle it honks for a second, (low revs high Gear)
when more throttle is applied it's gone. it points towards torque converter.
but at 50-60 up a gradient slight throttle no problem. it's fitted with a behr
rad. 85000 miles on the clock on this one. my previous s320cdi had 195000 on the clock, with no gearbox problems.
i do 2/3 motorway miles 30-33k a year.
Is this the start of torque converter wear ???.

thanks for the reply. i haven't had the gearbox or the torque converter oil changed myself. Had the car 4 months. the previous owner had the toque
converter oil changed( 3 litres), due to noise it says on the bill !. i'm starting to think he may have done this in some way to mask wear on the torque converter maybe or am i being to distrustfull ??.
