As you know I've just bought a c240 Sport (W202) ...I mentioned in a previous thread that I discovered it had no gearbox oil in it ................

Topped it up on Friday .......runnin real smooth now ............to my utter horror I found most of the oil spread over my drive this morning ........It's not lost it all but I'd say bout 30 to 40% since topping it up on Friday .(I've driven bout 100 miles over the weekend )

Anybody with any bright suggestions as to where this leak could be commin from ?????

Are there any "obvious" places to check ?????? or "Dodgy" seals or anything ???

HELP I need yer advise ......................

I would get underneath and have a look.

The seal round the sump wouldn't loose oil that quickly. It's possible that the bolt has fallen out of the clutch but unlikley.

Most probably it's a pipe that pumps oil around the cooling circuit.

Sorry, nothing listed for the 722.6 box for oil leaks, i think that you will have to wait till it stops raining,(if ever) or get it on a ramp / lift.

I think that the usual place is the cooler pipes, they tend to rot, other than that there leaves the sump gasket, drain bolt, torque converter seal, output shaft seal and the seal where the electrics go.

Just to confirm you are checking the level with the engine running with the proper dipstick and not overfilling ?
As mentioned the cooling pipes going into the radiator are the usual suspects.

For the 722.6 Glen Smith has listed all the weak spots, and the cooler pipes go to one side of the radiator. also check your coolant (does it have and oil contanination)

Evenin Guys........

UPDATE*
Checked uder me car this mornin......NOWT ZILCH .......Not a god damn sausage!!!!..........

I'm inclined to think the tranny place I took it to overfilled it a tad.........But I can't check the level until I get hold of a dipstick !!!! .....It stopped raining today so I attempted to crawl under it .............unfortunatly as it's a sport & has low profile tyres on it I couldn't even get me head under let alone the rest of me (Large)body.............

Assuming it WAS overfilled .where EXACTLY would it come out from ?????

Oh & Eric ........Checked me coolant it's OK ......(Green & smells of Anti-freeze !!!)...........Mind you so does the wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't have a dipstick, how did you know it had no oil in it in the first place? Tranny place probably spilt some onto the engine shield and it dripped through over night.

Hi Stevie
Yeah thats probs a good point .................I found out there was no oil in it at the Tranny place ........It was "Acting up" so I whizzed it in & used their dipstick, they topped it up .......so yeah it could be overspill on to the engine shield..........i've checked again this mornin ..........still no drips !!!!!!!!!

Hopefully it is just overspill. Buy a dipstick from the dealers if you can then you can check for sure.
