Thats cheap if you are keeping the car some time, though it is good for all 722.6 boxes

This start getting beyond DIY and a good gear box specialist would be the best, I can give you details of a good reasonable near you

With any of the fresher cars, especially with lower mileage 50 /60k or less I would be thinking of having the gearbox reset on the star diagnostic machine, this can make a hell of a difference to the autobox.. on many ocassions ..especially with the colder weather the battery's do sometiimes cause glitches in the system, and gearbox ECUs do tend to remember the faults and act on them..

Is it easy to do?? I have asked this gearbox ECU reset question to a few mechanics and they all think I am talking rubbish. Has anyone ever tried this and does it make alot of difference???

so it makes alot of difference.... I am not sure if mine is sluggish but i do feel at times its a lil jerky to change the gear. I am going to get the oil and filter changed anyway so might ask to reset the Gearbox ECU too

There is no re set on the gear box ECU it is either faulty or it is not, you can clear any fault codes, but that is all

In my place of work we have a machine called Texa this works on a range of cars/vehicles including Mercedes, when I am next on the late shift I will plug the computer in and see what fault codes and info i can find on my e320.
Three years ago i worked for a MB dealer for the vans and trucks, we had the Star Diagnosis computer a great bit of kit for the fault finding, wire diagrams, test's and reading keys etc.
I will make a post up when i carry out this task in a few weeks ;)

If you have fault codes stored in the gearbox ecu, these will automatically cause problems when there is any sort of glitch in the system, even changing gear can cause a problem, jumpy changes etc.. resetting the gearbox ecu is basically clearing the codes and adding any software updates that are available.
So crossed wires here, resetting the ecu..clearing stored faults..basically the same thing..
