gearbox oil

hi guys my gearbox oil needs topping up can i do this via the dipstick,its a e280 avantgarde p reg also when i top it up could i use a wyns gerabox treatment as the gearchange is slightly jerky when changing,its not bad but it annoys me,as my missus has got a c220 and you cant feel when it changes gear.

I would change the fluid along with the filter, should be done every 40k miles. do not use an additive

is it better to get a specialist to do this or is this sometning i could do myself,also is there any tips as to how to change the oil ie do;s and donts,and if its to difficult what is the ballpark figure i should expect to pay from a garage,to do it

I had mine changed by BlackC55 Use only genuine MB fluid.

An good indie should do it for £175 ish its worth doing and the chances are its never been done

thanks for your advice,but do you top up the geabox oil via the dipstick,and do you no of any good inde in kent,i live near sevenoaks/which is also near brands hatch,

Do you have a dipstick to measure the level of the fluid? If not, then don't top anything up just yet.
