Gearbox Problem - 1989 300SE Auto

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can give any advice/shed some light on a problem i've got.

My car has just starting to struggle to change gears at the lower end ie: 2nd/3rd gear and on the odd occasion it starts to 'bunny hop' a little bit until it changes succesfully. It seems as though it's struggling to 'bite' into the gears....if that makes any sense?

The transmission fluid has been recently topped up and i'm at a bit of a loss as to what the problem is and, like many other people on here, I want to try and avoid going to a garage to be told that i'll have to sell a kidney in order for them to look at it.

there is a list of mods for your box, could be something simple like the plastic locking cage needs changing to an Aluminium one or brake band housing.
If in top gear and the slightest touch on throtle puts it into 3rd then its torque converter (1 kidney) I would go to an independent gearbox specialist and ask what they think.there advice is always free. there is no fault code for your box
