Gearbox reset

Hi guys first time owing a Mercedes c class 220 tdi estate and I must say what a car it is best car I’ve ever owned. I’ve just had the gearbox serviced,
But was reading that you can reset the gearbox your self as it can learn the style you dive bearing in mind I’m the 4th owner of the car is it worth me doing that at all

It’s a bit of a myth actually, the adaptations happen over a very short period just a couple of days driving and it’ll already have adapted itself. I’m reality though, it doesn’t make much difference and it’s more for the driver to learn how to get the most out of his car

Ok thanks mate yeah I’ve noticed it’s changed a bit since I’ve got the car it’s most probably got used to my style of driving,its a wonderful car tho really happy with it

That process is the same for almost every manufacturer around, which is why it’s a bit of a myth. Like the link says though it learns the last 40 gear changes, so it shows how small the memory is, you can do forty changes in just a few miles if your going around the houses
