cannot predict when this will happen might be on short journey or long, but engine always warm,

The auto box will stick in a gear as it is changing up,and not shift out of it with semi auto selector, put the car in neutral and sometimes it wont re engage any gear. No warning lights or computer readout.

Stop car and turn engine off and take key out and then immeadiately restart engine and everything fine.

I had read that the c class AMG had electronic gearbox glitch but cant find that article.
So any ideas

Hello John and welcome,,, this has been a very common problem lately,,this would not be a battery problem on your car as it could be on some,,I think that the car will have to be plugged into STAR to see what is happening,,it could be the Box ECU or a connection fault

Sounds like a conductor plate fault!

This makes about 7 post this week on this type of fault with no conclusive answer
One for each speed Malcolm?

Welcome John.

Wouldn't an '07 be under warranty? Or am I reading 07 wrong?

Cheers

Keith

Thanks Guys, yes car still under warranty till Feb 10, so need to get it sorted. Mentioned it to dealer who said they need to experience the fault to know whats what. But it is getting common enough that I may be able to drive the car to a dealer when fault occurs, esp if sticks in 4th, not much fun when it sticks in 2nd.
Blows my idea of only buying models at the end of their production run thinking they are probably sorted by this time.
Do you realy think the dealer diagnosis machine would spot anything?

Nothing wrong with the production,,things can play up sometimes. yes what has happened should be recorded and picked up on STAR
