I see Ebay selling Mercs at over 300k but surely someone holds the record for the most mileage run in the UK?

I can recall once a few years ago in Grand Cannaria I sat in a 123 300td taxi with 700.000 km on it.

Sorry can't remember where but on one of the threads on one of the forums there is a guy who has done 650,000 MILES on a diesel and did not need to recondition the 5 speed auto until 500,000 miles.

I was talking to a taxi owner/driver in Newcastle recently & his E 124 diesel had 450,000mls on it. Without any major problems.
My job has taken me to many countries over the years. I remember in Malaysia riding in a 123 diesel with 780,000Kms on it. It was obviously well looked after & in very good condition considering the Kms it had covered.

Recently in Kyrgyzstan I traveled in a 1982 S class diesel,dont know if the diesel is fitted to these originally or if he had the diesel engine fitted. The car was looking very tired but the owner explained he bought the car at 4yrs old & it had worked as a taxi ever since. He said it ran from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakstan, a distance of 300kms round trip on a daily basis for almost 6yrs. The speedo was stopped & had been for a few years but the owner thought it would be possably into 1million kms or more. If I see the car again I will try to get a photo & more info from the owner.
It seems the taxi,s obtain these high mileages without major troubles as they are constantly running, sometimes 24hrs a day but regular services & oil changes.

We've just sold the last of our W210 220 cdis (I run a chauffeur Co) it had
420k on it/the last of the quality built Mercs.
Apart from new suspension the only thing major to have been replaced in
6 and quarter years was the plastic(fantastic piece of design not)inlet
manifold.

Mine is only a baby at 135k, but there is a greek taxi driver with a 1976 240D with 2.6 MILLION on it.........
