Now got the former working (2 sensors up the spout). My 2000 W210 parktronic only beeps when using the front sensors - when in reverse, the roof warning lights work, but there's no noise. Is this normal?

Next - just got a B service done. Picked up the car and it's saying A due in 3000m, and counting down 1 for 1 on miles. Seems a bit premature - again, normal?

Thanks all.

On the sensors, certainly the rears on my W211 beep. I'd be pretty sure they are supposed to on yours.
Yes the service interval is way off. Should start at 10k and pretty much count down 1 for 1 or better. Bob it back to the garage, I suspect they didn't reset it and it simply gave you the 3k automatically when it detected the new oil.

W210 with the correct fully synth oil should start out with 13,000 to next service

Thanks.

Hmmm - I wonder if the "1" is up the swanny on the display. Says "Mobil 1" on the service record...

Nope - just not reset properly. Its a matrix display so you can't lose 1 digit.
If you put 1l in as a top up, you often get 1-2k extra on the assyst as it detects the cleaner oil. So, a change would easily make the assyst give you another 3k.
It will only give you 13k if someone tells it that there is fully synth installed. Have the garage reset the Assyst and tell it you have fully syhth. It will then read 13k.

Thanks chaps.

Actuallu just looked at the book - I mis-read it, the service was Valvoline, not Mobil 1. Does that still make it synth?

I just put about a litre of oil into my van then started to drive with Assyst showing 19,900(just 100 miles short of the maximum 20k). I drove nearly 200 miles then checked again, now says 20,800. This is the first time I have ever seen it show more than the 20k interval even though I usualy get about 23k by the end. It always gives me 1100 miles more when I put in a reasonable top-up. I dont normally have to top up until later in the interval but it came back from the dealer with just under halfway oil level and I like to start off just nearly touching the max mark. Perhaps I will try this at every service in future!

From your service paperwork, how much oil did the dealer add at the change?
If they charged you for the full amount how come the dipstick is showing low?

just under halfway between min and max, so within the required level. I just prefer to have it close to high as this gives me more chance to spot leaks and other problems without wrecking an engine. The oil was in the engine when it came from Mercedes parts so presumably that is the level it left germany with?

Slightly off topic but, does anyone know how many litres of oil between Min and Max level in the 2.7ltr diesel engine? I thought it was in the owners handbook but now I can't find it. I always thought it was 2ltrs?

Any Ideas.
