Hey guys,
Im sure you all know we are busy developing for the fastest 250cdi, at the same time we managed to squeeze a GL 550 in for power tuning and a BMC performance air filter upgrade.
We managed to get 41bhp out of her which we are very happy with as realistically 35bhp was what we where expecting but obviously the air filters always help a little
NOW!!!! We get onto the issue of communication!!!
The GL V8's all run the Bosch ME9.7 ECU platform which is what all the 6.2 V8 AMG's run. (the V8 BiTurbo runs MED17.7.1 which is tri-core)
Now the correct way to make communication to these ECU's is BDM!!! I cant stress how important this is! You see communication via the likes of KessV2, Genius and the MyGenius system is that they are ID only, this means you have to send away for an original (.ORI) from your hardware supplier and match all the HW numbers and SW numbers.
This becomes an issue when WRITE to the car as when you start the process it wipes the EPROM and over writes with the new file so if your file that has been retrieved from X,Y or Z and then tuned is even slightly out the car wont start. This then leaves you in the situation as if you then decide to BDM the ECU you will only pull the WRONG file you have just written to it, and if you never receive the correct .ORI in the first place the chances are its not out there or extremely hard to get hold of.
So when you BDM the vehicle we take two clones, one as a whole file and the other as the three separate parts and then once as the MAPS which is from your vehicle so everything will match. You also have the backup if anything was to happen you have the clone to flash back to.
