Hi All,

Firstly hello! Im new to the MB world and recently purchased a 2010 GL350 as a general workhorse. Its a great car...

BUT - it is fitted with a retractable tow bar (ORIX A50-X) which I cant get to work. There is no switch fitted in the tailgate whcih is strange as thats where I believe it should be, but there is a lever thing under the boot with a red flashing LED if I lift it. I cant find any electic switch anywhere in the car.

Also, I cant find any manual on-line to say what the lever thing does.

Any tips on how to operate this thing and get it to swing out???

Any help greatly appreciated as this is bugging me and seems a bit of a mystery.

Pull the lever out, it's like a wheel brace that the handle extends on; then up and hold it. The light flashes and in time the tow bar appears. Just mind your shins.

To pack, do the same procedure then put your foot on the ball to help it along.

Switches in tailgate / boot lid / drivers door came along about 2014.

Sure I posted a vid clip of my W221 tow bar on here in October 2015ish, try a search
