guys my headlights on w211 have glazed totally over and light at night is limited if any

Had them buffed out today and guy said he has tried his best but looks like the lens is discoloured and frosted over inside

Ideally can't afford new headlights

I have found these replacement lenses on eBay

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/272709394389

Question is has anyone done something similar?

- is there any easy way of removing the headlight without taking bumper off?

- critical question are the current lenses on headlights siliconed in which will need heating to loosen away? Or
Are they just held onto the headlight unit with clips and screws and are a simple replacement,?

Pretty sure you have to remove the bumper.
There are two types of lens depending if you have HiD or halogen lights. Make sure to get the correct ones for your car.

The lenses are glued on using one time heat activated glue. Once removed they cannot be replaced, they need production jigs to to position and hold during curing. They are not a replacement part and aren’t designed to be removed and refitted.

If the lens has discoloured due to UV exposure it is only the outside surface facing the UV that discolours.

I suggest you buy a 3M lens restoration kit, around £50. Most importantly make sure to use the sealing lacquer which will prevent further clouding.

No need to spend £50. Here's one at £21 on eBay. I can vouch for the 3M kits, they do a good job. Just make sure you mask up around the headlights well before starting. They don't look great until you spray on the UV sealant.
Did mine 2 years ago and they will need re polishing and sealing again when its warmer.

Can anyone recommend someone in London that could restore the headlamps on my E200?

You could do them yourself Paul, doesn't take very long. Just need one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/123135020067 or similar :)

Oh, and welcome to the forum :)
Thanks for the reply and the welcome! I am on the lookout for a trust worthy go-to mechanic anyway as the car is getting to a certain age when it starts to creak a bit. I came across Automerc in Woodgreen and might try those guys.
