Hi All

I'm new to group - looking forward to the discussion.

Can anyone help?

I have a new GLE3000 70 plate and I now need a detachable tow bar. Many Tow Bar companies are saying they have stock in the UK but they dont. Keen to get one ASAP. Anyone know of where I can get a one?
Based in London SW18

Thanks in advance

Harvey

Hello and welcome,

Have you tried MB? Depending upon how they're wired they pretty much all need coding and sometimes increased cooling and other bits and ££££ bobs. It's not as it used to be unfortunately :( in that a big vehicle like a GLE would be specced to be able to tow, that's not always the case now. We've had a few threads already on the subject.

Thanks - MB are charging about 3.5k so pretty pricy. With Whitter and others they are under 1k - have used them before and on my old ML.
Not towing a massive weight so the fan etc is probably a little excessive.

Just wait for MB to wriggle out of any warranty issue though... :(

Did you buy the car from stock, or had it built?

OEM factory fitted with everything you need is only £950.

£3.5k is about right for an aftermarket from a MB dealer

I had a retro fitted tow bar to my W221 S350, the cooling fan was c£100, so peanuts compared to a gearbox at £12k.

It was stock so no choice at the time. Good advice re the fan and gear box - thanks
