Mini-spare is a Continental tyre on a steel wheel - there are special short wheelbolts in the toolkit which must be used with mini-spare. Size is 155/80 R 19 114 which will be same rolling circumference as 265/45 R 20 if you work it out. Andy

Hello
I bought a brand new 250d GLE Amg line in April 2016.
As it was ordered new and about 10-12 weeks waiting and about 24 weeks
for the premium plus, i opted for the standard GLE as mentioned above.

Car has FSH from MB and covered approx 14700 miles as I took early retirement at 53 a couple of years
and therefore not drive the car as often and we have a seven-seater suv that we take on longer trips.

Drives good for a big car. I recall having the GLC 250d engine fired up at MB and it sounded like spanners in a plastic bag. The GLE
is much more refined in every way inc engine sound of the 250d.

The rear lights allowed water ingress when car was about 24 months old, replaced under warranty.
The passenger side door mirror indicator light had water ingress turned lightly green the whole unit replaced under warranty just before the car was 36 months old.

When the car was about three months old started to overheat and i keep a close eye on things like this, MB
took a big look at the car and found air in the expansion tank and no trouble since.

The car throws a lot of steam like smoke in the winter and once i thought it was on fire - even does that when the engine is fully warm - MB looked at the car but nothing found.

Had the third service in July (usually, get car serviced just before the 13 months as hardly driven) and then last week having covered 200 miles since the service Adblue light warning and the dreaded EML cam on and car out of warranty. Was worried
and MB customer services van called, they could not get the EML to delete and the Adblue was topped up and at correct levels breakdown guy said. Car appeared to be driving ok but was advised engine was limited to 3k reves. MB gave me a loan car and got mine back 5 days later after it was fixed.

The fifth-year service involves the auto box so a heft 13/1500 quid and B service last year was just under 650 plus Adblue charge. I'm taking out a service plan and will get B, A and then B service via MB

Having driven the new E class premium pack car for a few days, my car's interior feels a bit dated but the table screen makes it look modern and the quality of the dash, steering, seats etc is good. As I had not really been in a saloon car for several years I felt my arse was on the road and when I got our car back I thought I was flying

I drive carely and usually gently and comfort mode and rarely put into the sport mode - best mpg on motorways with miles of 50mph driving in road works areas has returned 43mpg - usually 40/41 long-distance and about 33 around town, local driving and less in winter but a lot better than our sons Jeep grand Cherokee that used to give about 15mpg on w-ways it was a 2008 car and he sold that 3 years ago and road tax was 550 i think. So, alll in all a nice car and one people look at and look up to from their saloons and min suv's and makes you feel safe and has good crash-test results.

Btw, I nearly did not buy the car when i found out it had no spare wheel as I'd never had a no spare wheel car before and still worries me - hence the reason for me posting on this thread as i found it looking for a spare wheel for my car tyres are 254, 45 20 Dunlop Sports Max - all advice appreciated, ie Andys posts, are these tyres legal ie does insurance approve? I never knew that the car I have came with a spare wheel :(

As I worry a lot, took out a top-end MotorEasy 3 year warranty today and compared them with Warranty Wise. WW was cheaper after negotiations but their Trustpilot reviews put me off - any help, experiences of ME and/or WW, please?

Sorry, hands up, I have a 4 digit private plate on the car and not one with the letters Z, X, Y or E in it and no messing with plates and IMO makes the car look better. It's a black car and I've only had black cars since my first brand new car in 1995 and they look special washed and in dull weather ie no sunshine.

I'm hoping to gist the car to our son in 2 years time as he loves it hence my decision to stay with MB servicing and the extended warranty for three years.

Thanks

ps - the sound sytem is crap compared to our childrens cars and I'm no sound buff but for a big car this standard sound sytem is rubbish
