Hi all,

Just in the process of purchasing some Autoglym leather balm and leather cleaner, but while searching the bay I came across a brand called Gliptone.

Has anyone used the Gliptone leather cleaner and the leather conditioner ? If so what is your experience/advice of it ?

Thanks
Waheed

Waheed, gliptone is brilliant. Definitely get it over the autoglym stuff, if you don't have loads of time and don't want to 'clean' the leather first and then the aftercare, I would recommend 'lazy leather', type it into google and read the reviews. Was recommended it by a pro detailer and its good stuff, expensive but good.

A big one
On modern coated leather, there's allegedly no point using this type of product. The coating prevents it getting absorbed. Baby wipes are all you need.

This is very true, unlike the older method, I purely use it so that it goes into any wear cracks

Gliptone is OK as someone said above...but now I have researched leather conditioning more and more, I wont use any more 'conditioners' on my leather seats.

Keep an eye on my build thread as ill be posting up about how I cleaned my seats recently

What would others use for cleaning Artico seats?

Artico is basically vinyl, so anything made for cleaning vinyl. A damp cloth and soapy water, using a sift nail brush for ground in dirt.

One warning, never ever use any soap that has any scent in it, this will rot the stitching over time.

This information was taken from a Rolls Royce service bulletin.

What's the chemistry behind that then?

Apparently scents can contain anything depending on the smell and of what.

They still recommend the old soap blocks if you can still get them anywhere

I've used saddle soap with no problems, followed by neatsfoot oil to feed the leather.

No use on cars after the change in the leather tanning and colouring process changed, I believe late 90's, not sure.

"Soapy water" DONT USE WASHing up liquid.
It contains surfactants which will affect the threads by killing the natural lubricantslubricants
