It's a business card holder that the previous dumb *rse owner has put back in the wrong way! I've got one the same & it's been put back in wrong! Been to the dealer to ask the q'n too and verifies! You'll not get it out.......only way to sort it is to take glove box out, unfix it, and then take apart and put back in the correct way!!!

I did think it was the wrong way around - I thought it was an electronic gizmo! - 2 b honest the glove comp is so small that it would be a good move to get rid of the card holder - anyway I have an idea on how to get it out! Will let you know

You were quite right, it had been forced in over 2 very small pin head size lumps of plastic on each side of the card box, intended to be stops. Once put in the wrong way around (over these stops) the card holder could not be withdrawn.
Well, I removed the card holder by using a very narrow sharp chisel to remove the 2 pinhead size lumps on one side & it then pulled out.
On investigation I found that the frame for the card holder has 4 pairs of upright stalks about half inch long with barbs on the ends to hold the frame in place in.
My car in no longer original as I have no business card holder, in what is a stupid sized glove compartment anyway!
Those interested in a business card holder Part No is: A210 680 09 14???
(Sincere apologies for my technical description!)

Thats given me the idea to take my waste of space out the glove box too.

Hmm , the C class used to have a good sized glovebox before they put the crappy airbag in its place

Receivers

Two receivers in your car, two signals are sent by the remote, infra-red and radio.
The infra red must point at receiver in door handle (small square) to work, it locks/alarms car as normal but also opens/closes windows/roof if the lock/unlock button is held down. must be fairly close to receiver.
The radio signal only locks/unlocks/alarms the car (for obvious reasons--trapped fingers etc) the receiver is in the upper control panel (interior lamp assembly)
You can also program the remote to unlock 1 door then rest of doors second press, or all the doors at once (stops nutters jumping in the passenger side)
