I would appreciate so help on this one as I'm new to Mercedes.
I have recently bought a 2005 C220 CDI - lovely car but the Glovebox Light doesn't work.
I checked the bulb and the fuse, listed as no 47, and both are fine.
Can somebody suggest where to look next please?
Joe

When are you checking? It only illuminates in the dark with the IGN on.

Oh dear - what an idiot!
Just checked it with the Ignition on and guess what - it works fine.
Thanks for the reply

but if you'd left the glove box open for a few days & flattened the battery ..... that'd be a bad design too. ;)

True but doesn't the car have a shut off at a set voltage?

I got a bit miffed that my boot light only stayed on for around 20 seconds but with a charged battery it stays on much longer, as expected.

But why would I want to leave my Glovebox open for days? :p
Should really be like the interior lights which turns on when the door opens, regardless IGN pos or time.

But hey, there are bigger problems :lol:

The inside dome lamp has an auto turn off, the same as the boot lamp but they cost money
