GLS 350 wobbles at slow speed

Hi, I was wondering if someone could please help.

I've just had the front left and rear left tyres changed (bubbles in them from potholes) they are 295 40 21 tyres. The car was fine driving to the tyre place. They only had one in stock so did the front and I went somewhere else to get the back one done.

After the rear was replaced the car seems to wobble at low speeds. It has active Curve Assist, Air suspension etc and only 19,000 miles. I've looked on the forums and best I could see was the tyre might have delaminated but there is no visible lump in the tyre. Any suggestions?

Go back to the garage that fitted them, but first check all wheel studs/nuts are tight first!!

Hello and welcome,

21" wheels... if you're hitting potholes regularly I 'd expect the wheels to no longer be round... and that's the wobble...:(

Thanks all.

It drove fine with the bulged tyres from the pothole, so I think the alloy wheels are round. I think perhaps the jacking up process might have added extra pressure from the pothole hit, is that possible? Or one of the following

1. The tyre itself is no good
2. as Robin says perhaps the nuts which I will check in my lunch break

Have you checked the inside of the tyres for bulges? Car wobble is usually an issue at the rear unless you also have steering wheel wobble.

Also as stated above its not recommended mixing brands on the same axle.

Not possible... they jack the car body up

I'd have a look at the wheel inner and see how round that is

Agree, check wheel nuts and take it back, may have been sold a tyre that is faulty.
Did it wobble after first one fitted ?, if not then your suspect is the 2nd one.
If it was a decent tyre place they will inspect free of charge.

Check your logbook to ensure they are torquing to the correct amount. If your alloy was badly buckled, a good tyre fitter should've spotted this during balancing and informed you. I agree with the others, go back and find out.

I went to another Tye place first as I wanted an independent view. He said Tye pressure was set to max 44 back 41 front.
Reduced pressure to 41 back & 36 front and it’s much better, but still not 100%.
