GOD does electrics (well parktronic really)

Stunned beyond belief! I always knew that The CLS was a decent motor but I didn’t know that they were blessed by the hand of god and can actually fix themselves???

Yesterday after travelling oooop north and after dropping the brats off (who only wanted to show off in the car) the parktronic red warning lights and 3 second alarm came on. After reading the bible sized handbook to be informed that the parktronic had malfunctioned, I knew that I was very shortly going to have a much lighter wallet after MB had got their hands on it. :(:(
So to my surprise when I backed out of the drive today there was, no red lights, no noise and parktronic working fine. I checked this by getting my little money magnets (kids) to stand on each corner and (with drill movements Hitler would have been proud of) move them back and forward to check the system.
All working fine and as an added bonus I found a tangible reason for having (and keeping) the kids.

Is this new news of is there history of this phenomenon??? Or better still, can the motor fix itself.

Sometimes after a downpour, it just water ingress, once it dries away, the malfunctions goes away. Sometimes it begins as intermittent fault, then becomes a permanent one, hopefully yours is the former.

Water ingress can mess them up

I found mercedes sensors to be a lot more sensitive than bmw ones! The sensors on my E would have been triggered by raindrops running down them!

I have found cleaning the sensors can cure problems.

I will take this on board ref cleaning then but is there anything that can be done to STOPS it happening again. I'm working off the thought process that if it happens again and a sensor fails; i have to

1. Sensor fails, bring to MB dealer to replace

2 water ingress causes malfunction again

3 bring to MB dealer to replace

4 continue until I'm broke and wife and kids leave

5 I stab car in night due to fustration.

So can it be prevented r is it just a fact of MB life:D

It is a massive job to seal them, water getting in front or rear

Dead right, it isn't called God's country for nowt..... Although as a british/Scot I don't agree, Scotland is but it's too cold to live up there. Come to think of it it's a bit cold ere too.
