I have a 1997 R-129 SL 500. Cannot unlock or open the center counsel. It appears locked. Is there a process to unlock it? Seattle Benz.

The centre console locks and unlocks with the car. Not sure if it’s vacuum operated on a 129, I expect it is.

Everything is vacuum operated on a 129!!

OP, welcome to the forum.


The centre console, door pockets, glovebox and sunglasses compartment all operate off the same circuit.
If the others work but the console doesn't the problem is with the console vacuum actuator.
If none work the problem is the pump or pump line. The circuit is labelled IZV from memory.
