Hi,
My TomTom traffic subscription has expired and since I don't have a mercedes me module I need to take it in to a main dealer and pay £299 to have a map update and for them to add a Tom Tom licence code.

Does anybody know whether I can use bluetooth or plug my phone in to the USB socket and put google maps up on to my cars navigation screen.

This would give me constantly updated maps

If your can doesn't have Android Auto, I don't think it's possible. If it does ( not sure on your age car) then you have to use a USB lead and plug into a specific USB socket in the car (on the W213 it's the one in the "ashtray") to get it to work.

As above. You need Android a auto or Apple Car Play to do this sort of thing and that will not have been standard on a 2914 car,

The guys at Comand Online can probably do an aftermarket system but that is going to cost far more than your trip to the dealer.

Our 2016 SLC has Apple CarPlay & I run WAZE on it free via my iPhone, I am also not paying MB's annual fees.

Hi,
Looked this up on the Command website but it is £499 and forces a lot of other things to go via the phone rather than the car system so I guess it is either live with no traffic and old maps or pay up:confused:

It now comes out that Mercedes don't support the old Mercedes me system for upgrade and are concentrating on MBUX.

So no maps newer than 2022 and no way to renew the Tomtom traffic.

So a 10 year old top of the range car from a "Premium" manufacturer is too old to bother with!!!

This is the problem with software based systems. When I bought my car in 2020, it came with 12 months of in-car office for free so I set it up, but at the time, couldn't pair my work information so only had my personal calendar etc. After changing jobs last year I was allowed to use the service, so went to try and subscribe and the app store said it wasn't available for my vehicle. Raised it with support pointing out that it must work ok my car as I had it before, only to be told the Mercedes are "sunsetting" this and other apps such as remote parking for my vehicle. At the time that was on a three year old car!!

If I could be bothered (and I'm sure someone will at some point) it would be tempting to take MB to court for removing features that effectively devalue my car. (Bet there's some cop-out small print in the sales terms though)

Worst of it is that the Mercedes Me app on my phone is still offering a navigation upgrade for £299.

Tempting to try it but it could do a one time upgrade to the 2022 map and then still not get traffic updates if it is relying on 3G signal:mad:
