    So I nip out to grab some car shampoo (AG green bottle) from the local Autosave A1 store.

    I pull up to find the chap topping up some woman's coolant and a sorting a bulb for her. This made me think that its nice to have such stores that will will do this on the spot without charge helping those who are unable to DIY.

    In 35 minutes I saw the following;

    1970's golden/brown Rolls Royce
    MG Midget (looked like one but may be something else) convertible with a V8 (sounded and smelt like a car should!)
    Mercedes 190 2.3-16 Cosworth
    Ferrari F355

    Nope definitely looked like an MG midget but rather than the convertibles I have seen, it had a black protective cover with a cut out for the driver but looked like something genuine rather than something that someone just made up.

    Just googled it - it was this, an MGB V8. I never knew they did a V8 in those!

    They did a 2.9 ltr straight 6 as well, (MGC) although it was heavy having a cast iron block

    Now we've ascertained it was a MGB V8, they had a tonneau cover the driver would zip himself into. Eons ago I would borrow my brothers MGB GT and join friends who had MGBs complete with sheepskin lined flying jackets that would connect to the tonneau cover, scarf, flying helmet, goggles, gloves and stick on long white moustaches and go screaming round country lanes on a Sunday morning heading for the local. Excellent memories. ;):cool:

    V8 conversions of MGB's used originally to be done by an outfit at Green St Green near Orpington. All of a sudden MG/BL decided they would no longer supply them with the V8 engines (from IIRC Rover), not too long after that MG revealed their own MGB V8!
