Can anyone recommend a trickle charger which can safely be plugged into the 12v in-car socket of an E320 CDI 2004 ( ? W211 ) ?

Hello and welcome,,you cannot use that socket as it is key 1 and 2 only,,it is quite easy to install a socket in the boot end and a C tec charger could be left on without any problems
