Grating/ Grinding When Cornering...????

My CLK430 has started to develop a grating noise only when the car has warmed up and is particularly evident when I turn a corner and when I am driving at low speed.

Mercedes have had my car back twice now and the problem still persists. It was fitted with new discs/ pads and they have all been stripped off and re-fitted, but to no avail.

Anyone any clues. This is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!

Grating / Grinding, etc

Have the front wheels been checked for play in the bearings? Sometimes this can cause strange noises. Hope this helps.

I've got a simialr problem with my C270.

When the steering in on full lock turning right at low speed (no problem or noise when turning left), there is a really awful grating noise.

MB have checked it (allbeit briefly) and said they couldn't find anything wrong - but it sounds dreadful.

Check the engine mounts.

I cured the problem by driving for a short while with the handbrake slightly "on". As new discs/ pads were fitted there is an oxide coating on the disc that needs to be removed. This is a common problem that is quite often forgotten when fitting mew MB discs.
