Hi All,
Got some parts from the dealership recently that had a very nice clear grease lubricating them. Need to head back down there again, can anyone recommend a good all purpose (hinges, wiper mechanism etc) MB grease that is clear in colour and would most likely be stocked by the dealership.
Thanks, Geoff.

Grease.

Personally I think grease is just grease but hate the white stuff MB dealers seem to use and which was plastered all over mine when I got it. Castrol LM is a good all-purpose, but prefer engine oil for hinges and black high melt point moly-grease for wheel bearings.

I'm a bit partial

to copper thread compound myself. Very good in those very high temperature areas such as plug threads and disc pad backings. and also a lovely shimmering scintillating copper colour.

Sir Henry Royce said (never put grease where oil will go) and I go along with Tom7035.6
Grease comes in all types including Silicon and White for plastics, everone has a purpose. I have some R1000 oil, you cant get it out of the tin below 18 degrees.

...as you say, there are loads of types and all have a purpose. My favorite, general purpose is silicon grease as it works on rubber things (this is not a life style comment). If you ever get lost in Hellfords, you might find yourself in the two wheeled, human powered vehicles section. There you will find a very neat little grease gun and also something that looks like a tube of toothpaste that screws onto it...this is silicon grease. It's a very hand setup.
