Just an observation about people apparently thinking 40psi is high....or maybe I have misunderstood?
My front tyres have a standard pressure of 40psi.

My front tyres have a standard pressure of 40psi.
A lot of the newer cars have to improve emissions.
I used to have 50psi in the VW Caravelle tyres

My big t-max will happily go past 60psi....
I have a hand pump that will go to over 4000psi if you have the time and energy (and bravery)!

I can remember splitting HGV wheels in the late 60's to change tyres. The rear TP was 90psi, always put it in a cage first before pumping it up.
