hi members,

over the last several months ive had a really funny smell in my car, ok its not me! lol
but seriously its almost like a sweet smelling fungus smell. anyway today i was cleaning the inside and i removed the passenger carpet lining and i found this dribble of green liquid...
my car is a 1990 190E with air con.
My question is, what is this and what do i need to do to solve it!??

many thanks in advance

Possibly from aircon but I don't know where the colour green would come from!!!
My suggestion would be a leaking heater core. The green colour could be glycol based radiator additive. Are you showing a loss of radiator coolant? If so, that would be the answer.

It shouldn't be from the Air-Con/ Climate Control as this use a refridgerant. The only likely culprit with the liquid being this colour is your radiator/ heater matrix...but either way I would get this checked out ASAP to correctly ascertain where this leak is eminating from as the fluid itself can cause other components to fail if not repaired.

the refridgerant is green in colourl

Interesting comment. Looking through visi glass holes in aircon systems just shows a clear fluid and of course, when not under pressure, it immediately vapourises into its normal form - gas. I have seen some oil leaking from aircon compressor fittings that "could" be construed as green but that sure isn't refrigerant. Never seen oil leak from the other parts of the aircon system - just gas when it springs a leak, and that can be a HUGE white cloud if it is a sudden major leak.

How about a comment from studio city?? Did you find out what your problem was. Nice to have some feedback sometimes !!!!!

The refrigerant would only be green if it contained UV dye and then a poor performing air con system would be evident, take a sample of the green and put it under the wifes sunbed and see if it lights up.

hi guys,
sorry for the delay...well im still none the wiser as to what it is. i have been told though its a leaking heater matrix. so dash out job. but i will do this myself. matrix is around £80 from the dealer.
one garage quoted me over £1200...you must be joking!
but the weird thing is that the liquid is green...my coolant is green too. So is my refigerant! LOL...
