Has anybody else noticed that at traffic lights nobody waits for the light to turn green anymore. They just go on the amber (some go before that, when the other lights start changing).

I think that in some other countries, the lights just go from red to green, the amber is only used on the way back from green to red. It makes a lot more sense really.

Yup. Some of the same places let you turn right on red too!
(Mind you they drive on the wrong side)

What is it with people on the roads now.....

One thing I will say..........(for me anyway)...when I go up north (Scotland) the more courtiess (spelling) people are.....when you come back to the central belt eg Glasgow area it's a ****** rat race again....

The central belt isn't as bad as england. You can always spot the driver from the south as he sticks on his indictor and swings out into an unacceptable gap.

It's another driving quirk...if you drive leaving a safe gap, then somebody will always pull out in front of you. You are then forced to drive to close to stop people cutting you up...then you crash and the police say you were driving to close.

ho hum

You've clearly only come across the courtious ones. Most don't indicate and I'm not just talking about BM* drivers. You can tell where they are from though. The closer they are to your bumper has a direct correlation to how close to London they live.

I've discovered that Manchester residents have all been given a charter from the Queen. It gives them full rights to the outside lane of all public highways.

Each area seems to have its own local dangerous stupidity, but don't worry because as the Government tell us, it's impossible to crash if you're driving under the speed limit, no matter how incompetent you are.

Also, as the AA spokesman said, elderly (blind, deaf, senile etc) drivers are perfectly safe as they only drive on roads they know.

But drive at 45 in a 40 on a dual carriageway at 3am and you are the worst person on the planet for whom flogging is too good.

They've even started a scheme near me where people are comissioned by the local council as "traffic calmers". They drive around at the speed limit and get in the way of faster traffic. The muppet being interviewed proudly declared during filming that he was doing 25mph ..in a 30!

ever get the feeling that we're being governed by idiots?
grrrr.
