- 2009 W211 E-Class E280 Sport Estate (OM642 3-litre diesel V6), 3x remapped, now returned to stock
Hi, guys,
This has been the case since I picked up the car but it's only now that I've decided I can't take any more - it's spoiling my enjoyment of the car.
OK: the car is a 2009 E280 CDI Sport with 110,000 miles.
Symptoms:
When the throttle is pressed to a certain point and beyond, a "gritty, hissy" sound is added on top of the engine note; not massively loud but impossible not to notice.
It sounds like what you might expect if some sort of valve was opening but it's too "gritty" to be a mere escape of air. Besides, I recently had a smoke test which showed there is no boost leak.
It is ENTIRELY to do with throttle position: revs and road speed are immaterial.
I'd like to listen to it from under the bonnet but I don't know where the throttle cable is...
Any ideas, chaps?
Many thanks.
