dumbkompf in new beetle bashed into my rear offside door, luckily didn't sustain any bad damage, pushed in the middle part of the door panel but has not really crumpled. Best way to push the panel out straight again? I'd ideally like to do it asap and myself if possible.

remove the panel inside and try to push it out,or buy a large sucker and use it to pull the dent out..

When pushing out dents,or pulling never start at the center, you always slowly work it out round the ouside of the dent, working towards the center if you don't you will get a double crease that can pop in or out at your will like one of those toy pop things that you sqeeze ( shows my age)
though the access through the door is limited a decorators roller works quite well but you still start at the ouside of the damage.

Nasty but you can unclip the bottom plastic panel and take it off.and it does not matter much what you do below that.
Looking at the photo it could pop out, but still push it from the back or front of the damage. If I remember correct there is a fold in the door just under the plastic panel, it will take quite a push to get it flat. I did almost the same amount of damage to my 124 on a ferry draw bridge cable that pushed out to 95% I always knew it was there though you could hardly see it. Best of luck with it

looks like it might need a bit of filling and painting as well.
