Guys,

This may be one of the most remarkable questions asked on this forum but lets see the return.

I have attached a picture of two key looking fobs that came with my Mercedes A class few years ago.

I literally have no ****** idea of what these are?

I welcome your suggestions.

M6 Cab - prior to that, SL63 AMG, A-M V8 Vantage, SL55, SL500 and many more
they look to be a part of an alarm system - perhaps to disable?

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
They are for enabling and disabling the alarm system. In you car somewhere you will have a round socket, edge or glove box maybe or in one of the kick panels, its about 18mm diameter. Push the red one in and this enables it, the black one disables it.

Immobiliser fitted by Mercedes on my 1998 mercedes W140 S320. It is fitted in the glove box. One for on one for off. They where fitted by mercedes auto electricians as "after market".

They both do the same job - switching off the MBSS alarm if the remote fails, the red one is the master one which allows you to program replacement black ones if required (stick red one in & follow with new blank black one to code it)
They don't switch the alarm on. you will need to search for the socket - usually on the drivers kick panel, but could be elsewhere.

I have these alarm keys for my 1998 Mercedes w140 S320. They as others have said work the alarm. They were fitted by Mercedes as an extra immobiliser "after market".
In my w140 the location of the socket is in the glove box. I have never used them.
