Hi twice heard a gurgling sound from fuel tank when starting engine, goes away straight away with no adverse effect. Has not happened again for several days. diesel tank 3/4 full. 2010 E350 CDI. Its running well. Any ideas what it could have been. Thanks.

Yes, it's always vexing when your car starts making noises you haven't heard/noticed before. My E350 coupe occasionally used to make a sound like water was washing around in the door sill (there never was any) and I guess that was fuel related. However, if yours is running ok I woldn't be concerned - just think of it a a Merc-Quirk and turn the stereo up

Gurgling noises from the fuel tank are normal for a V8....
