We have had a lot of rain recently, i got in old clk today, putting something on passenger footwell and the carpet is damp, and not just damp it's soaked.
This has happened before to me same place on a clk, but not nearly an inch deep at it's highest.
In one of the pictures you can see where seat loom is swamped lol.
So grabbed an old towel, a small beaker and got drying..my mate reckons i need a heater or something placed in footwell or on seat to dry, i'm bald of course so don't have a hair dryer or access to one .. any advice on small caravan/car plug in heaters?
If you need to ask no she doesn't start.

Thanks 20190207_111532.jpg 20190207_111712.jpg 20190207_111721.jpg 20190207_112406.jpg 20190207_111532.jpg 20190207_111712.jpg 20190207_111721.jpg 20190207_112406.jpg

Sorry Jez, your car is only shower-proof. It's not designed for full immersion. U-boats are also available.

Good luck with baling.

This car's actually worse than my Talbot sunbeam.. one of the reasons for buying was, it has no sunroof .. just didn't think to buy a snorkel .

I’d be hiring an industrial dehumidifier I think! That’s horrid!

Absolutely this.
A decent compressor based (as opposed to peltier) dehumidifier is the best way to sort that.
Absolutely as a ‘heater’ will just create steam and condensate so you’re back where you started!

Well essentialy the floor is dry now, and so were the fuse boxes under the bonnet, all checked out fine.
Thinking to be safe i'll sit there with a hair dryer for a while.
Question.. what sits behind that metal plate in passenger well, as seemed some dampness there too.

Thanks..

From memory there's an ECU under there.

Blimey, that's not ideal.

Wet vac etc and remove all carpet.
Any electrical connectors that have been submerged shoukd be dried and cleaned with electrical contact cleaner.

I would remove seats as well and rear sections of carpet/foam to be sure they are completely dry.

Blocked scuttle drains and rain water through the heater matrix I'm guessing as the cause.

Update.. it started this morning:)
Think it needed a little drying, removed the battery and put it on trickle for 2 days, gone out to the car and it started first kick..
I'm a bit concerned about the dampness near foot plate..will leave carpet out, and the point of entry, if anybody knows the Clk interior strip out, water came through the black box 'heater motor' ?
But hey she runs :)

As I said above your scuttle drains will be blocked so water goes through the heater matrix into the footwell. Get that cleaned out and the drains working or you’re never going to stop the water coming in.
