The quality of light from my original, I believe, Halogen headlights was never of any level of quality to write home about, but they were adequate for my needs and driving style, until recently! I am in fact due for an eye test but I believe it's the old Halogen lamps who are suffering from age deterioration rather than me starting to suddenly go blind!
I don't like the Colour Temperatures of HID or LED headlights which is typically around the 7500-9000k range and in fact much cooler than daylight itself which starts around 4500k, and who ever thought it was a good idea to have a blue hue to your headlights? It also has to be said, I like even less the projected costs of changing from halogen to other lamp technologies even if lower colour temperatures were available in the 3500-4500k range!
So with this in mind, I was looking for replacement lamps yesterday and came across these, their predecessor was a Night Breaker 150 and I wondered if any members had used them and how they found them?

Factory gas discharge headlights are typically around 4000-4500 Kelvin.

Led headlights are around 5000-6000 kelvin.

7500-9000 kelvin you would pretty much have purple headlights

Well my intention wasn't to start a discussion on the different temperature colours of the world's lamp manufacturers and the figures I posted above while generic in nature suit the purposes for my needs, my query is about a specific Halogen lamp but thanks for your input anyway!

I have the 200 in my W164. They are better than standard bulbs but I didn’t notice much difference with the nightbreaker Laser that were in before.

Strangely, the Laser 150 and the Laser 200 Photometric Data output are rated exactly the same at 1,500lm !

Just out of interest whats the life time of those bulbs.

I have replaced the headlamp bulbs in my 2004 W220 and used again MB bulbs, they do last a long while.

While I would rather have a brighter bulb, I dont want to be replacing every year. Hence the question.

I've used posh halogens bulbs from most brands out there to budgest ones, in the real world there is very little difference, none ever add what you wanted or make the effort worthwhile. And most higher spec ones just empty your wallet and go pop at three times the rate.

if you need to swap a bulb and they are easy to reach, use whatever you like... in the world out there now, don't expect to be able to see where you are going

I even noticed recently the self dimming mirrors do it perfectly if its a set (or multiple sets) of halogens behind. But if its modern factory fit LEDs the self dimming doesn't really cope (of course it helps a bit as they take LEDs down to a white version of halogen irritation with no dipped mirror, rather than burning holes in the mirror glass). However, get three sets of factory LED's in the cars behind you and its game over... So of course if you get on anywhere near the M4 / M25 that's a minimum of 15 sets of super bright factory LED garbage around you, all melting the cars ahead and trying to illuminate the next three planets after Venus...

Both lamps are rated at 150 Hrs there's a 3% failure rate and at 250 Hrs there's a 63% failure rate.

Just like batteries, MB don't make lamps either but they would be made for MB to an MB specification which would be interesting to compare to a proprietary manufacturer?

Never trust what is written about any bulbs lumen or colour temperature etc .

Independent testing is the Daddy .

Yes, agreed, Interesting that 3550k is specified in the Night Breaker 200 MSDS sheet and no information specified on the Colour Temperature of it's 150 predecessor!
