Hand/Foot brake not locking in place

Can anyone pls help? The foot/handbrake will allow me press down (with the handbrake light showing on the dash), however it comes straight off when i release my foot off the pedal. Thanks

could be a broken or misplaced spring, this does happen. failing that the whole aluminium bracket could have snapped - but lets hope not.

my number 17 (ratchet thingy) keeps falling off after a while - not sure why but the park brake does stay engaged, just means its silent when engaging it

That plastic thing is only a clicker, so that you know that you have pressed it
